As Maryvale’s technology inventory continues to grow, it is increasingly important to have a plan for its integration and use. The Technology Steering Committee was created with this purpose in mind. Its role is to support this process in a way that ultimately leads to improved student learning and engagement. The guiding values of the committee are expressed in the mission and vision statements below. It is with these guiding principles that members work with all educators in the agency schools to enrich teaching and learning in all classrooms.
Technology Steering Committee – Mission Statement
The Mission of the Technology Steering Committee is to promote the wise and appropriate use of technology in classrooms in ways that support and enhance student learning. We believe that technology enhanced instruction supports the related objectives of Differentiated Instructional and Universal Design for Learning. Through the continuous process of collaborative learning, sharing and supporting, The committee facilitates the development and enhancement of a technologically rich learning environment, where students are engaged and excited by the opportunities and experiences for learning and creating, that are afforded through digital tools and information technology.
Technology Steering Committee – Vision Statement
Our vision is that teachers are comfortable and proficient in the use of technology to support student learning. Teachers will use their skills to create experiences for their students that are technologically rich and engaging. We envision a culture of learning where teachers collaborate to discover and use digital tools in ways that support student learning, where differentiated instruction and Universal Designs for Learning are common standards of practice, and where students are inspired to engage in the pursuit of their own life long learning, so they may achieve their full potential.
